Dear NC-CCIM Member,

I wanted to send a personal note to all of the NC-CCIM Members and express my gratitude to everyone for putting your faith in me as your 2010 NC-CCIM Chapter President.

Next year will be interesting for sure. As a chapter, we must adapt to the economy and be great stewards with our money just like you must do with your personal business. I challenge everyone to be sure that the NC-CCIM Chapter and CCIM is a big part of your 2010 business plan. As others have stated before me, it may be tempting to cut certain expenses and professional organizations are usually the first place we look at with regards to paying our dues and renewing our memberships.

I can assure you that a membership in the NC-CCIM Chapter and the CCIM Institute will continue to be a great value to everyone. In fact, during these times and years past, the NC-CCIM & CCIM memberships have been a very good investment. Both the State & National Associations have many new and exciting things planned for 2010. These new initiatives are directed towards the members in an effort to assist each of us in our individual business, whether you are a broker, banker, appraiser, attorney and the many other specializations that make up the CCIM Network.

In 2009 the NC-CCIM Chapter had a great year. Our membership continued to grow with new members being added to the Chapter. We were able to continue making strides through networking, education and technology. Some of our accomplishments included the following:

Networking:

  • Monthly events in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh. These monthly breakfast and/or luncheons provided a venue for deal-making, education and networking with peers.

  • NC-CCIM State Conference Reception at the Starmount Country Club in Greensboro provided 70 + attendees with an opportunity to meet, greet and enjoy each others company.

Education:

  • FREE CE… Our chapter provides our members and the real estate community with two different CE Days each year. This past year we held the Mandatory, BICAR and elective classes that allowed all those that need the education with an opportunity to satisfy the NCREC requirements as part of your membership.
  • We provided CCIM Intro classes as well as the core courses identified as CI 101, 102, 103 and 104.
  • We provided multiple Excel Financial Calculator classes teaching our members and the real estate community the New CCIM Financial Calculator program.
  • The chapter provided CCIM Candidates with the knowledge to complete their Portfolio of Qualifying Experience with two classes each in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh.
  • Our Market Forecast events enabled approximately 1200 attendees in the three markets to take part in panelists’ discussions, listening to market and governmental leaders, as well as having our friend Mark Vitner once again as our Economist.
  • The State Conference we held provided all attendees with insight of our industry thru the eyes of a UNC-Charlotte Professor. The feedback on this session was absolutely tremendous.

Technology:

  • NC-CCIM Web Site… Our chapter provides a great web site to keep its members connected with educational and networking opportunities on both a local, state and national level. Its enhanced features keep us in touch with each other and provide a membership database that is beneficial to all that visit the site.
  • Virtual Deal making… This continues to be a great asset to our members as only a NC-CCIM member may pitch a property to the attendees of this monthly event. Our chapter is picking up members through this service as others around the region want to be able to introduce their haves & wants to everyone on the call.
  • NC-CCIM Communicator… Our version of a chapter newsletter that is very informative and reaches beyond our membership. It is sent developers, financial institutions, real estate executives and individual areas of commerce.
  • E-Mail… Our chapter keeps in touch with its members through a great e-mail campaign where we attempt to awareness to all events before they happen. If you are not receiving these please contact Ashley Boykin @ aboykin@nc-ccim.org and she will make sure you are added to the distribution list.

I’d like to make you aware of a few things that don’t often get promoted the way they should. Did you know that the NC-CCIM Chapter received 2nd Place this past year in the CCIM President’s Cup competition? Our chapter has been fortunate to be nationally recognized by CCIM as we placed 3rd for the year 2006, 1st for 2007 and 3rd for 2008. This is a great accomplishment and many thanks goes out to all the hard work of the NC-CCIM Executive Committee, the NC-CCIM Board of Directors and the many NC-CCIM Committee Members that provide their time volunteering to this great organization.

If you have any questions regarding our current offerings or any suggestions on how we can better serve our members in 2010, please don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an e-mail as we want to make sure we continue to reach the needs of all of our members.

In closing, I’d like to personally invite everyone to renew your NC-CCIM membership in 2010 by visiting our web site at www.nc-ccim.org . You can also renew along with your individual CCIM Designation or Candidacy by visiting www.ccim.com as we participate in the CCIM unified dues billing program. I am confident that you will all continue to realize that we receive a tremendous value for these memberships. I’d also like to invite each of you to make plans to attend many of the scheduled events and education opportunities, and also to get involved in your chapter by serving on a NC-CCIM Committee. On behalf of the NC-CCIM Board of Directors and our Staff, I want to wish everyone a wonderful 2010!

Respectfully yours,
