          North Carolina CCIM Chapter Members,

I am proud to have the opportunity to serve as your 2017 NC-CCIM State Chapter President. This year marks the 36th anniversary of the founding of our chapter. In that time, we have grown to become one of the largest and most successful CCIM chapters in the country. We have over 600 members from cities across North Carolina and we provide the best educational options and networking opportunities for commercial real estate professionals.

In 2017, we’ll offer all four core CCIM courses that are required to earn the CCIM designation. We’ll also offer a second CCIM 101 class in the new blended learning format – most work is done on-line and only two days are in the classroom to accommodate busy schedules. When CCIM 102 becomes available in the new blended format, we plan to be one of the first chapters in the country to offer it. In addition to these classes, we’ll offer Foundations for Success in Commercial Real Estate, a course created by the CCIM Institute’s Ward Center and Commercial Real Estate Negotiations.

Most of our chapter members hold a broker’s license, so we always offer continuing education classes that satisfy both the Broker and Broker in Charge requirements. All of our classes are geared to commercial real estate so your CE can actually be relevant! These CE classes are free to chapter members so the investment of $95 for your annual chapter dues pays for itself. Best deal in the business!

Participating in great networking events has always been one of the most important benefits of NC-CCIM chapter membership. In 2017, we’ll have over 50 events in cities across North Carolina. We’ll have breakfasts, lunches, and after hours events in order to allow as many members to attend as possible. I can tell you from experience that this is where relationships are made that lead to new business and lasting friendships.

Our most popular events, of course, are the Market Forecasts which are held in Charlotte, the Triad, and the Triangle. Each event will feature great speakers or panelists talking about what’s happening in commercial real estate and this year we’ll continue a new tradition – started last year – of the Market Madness competition. The Market Madness competition allows the audience members to make predictions about the upcoming year in commercial real estate. The 2017 Forecasts will showcase the first group of Market Madness winners from the group that submitted predictions last year. The winners will get an award and will be featured in an ad we’ll run in the Business Journal for each major market. We’re very excited about the Forecasts and we think you’ll really enjoy the Market Madness competition.

As you can tell, we’ve got a lot going on! The NC CCIM board is a great, hard working group, who are dedicated to making our chapter the best group for commercial real estate professionals in the state. I invite you to become more involved in our chapter and to bring your friends and associates to our events – the NC CCIM chapter is here to help you succeed and we look forward to a fantastic 2017!

Wishing you the best,

Pete Frandano, CCIM
